Sat Nam When I received my Spiritual name Teja Kaur I decided to create a Gemstone Mala using my numerology of my name to help support me in grounding my life purpose and further help me on my path. The Gemstones used and their unique vibrations and properties deepen the level to which I can access and promote healing on all levels of my being. I love Mantra Meditation. My mind is very busy and sometimes I can be thinking about lots of different things all at once so for me Mantra Meditation and using a Mala gives my mind something to focus on :-) "Mantras are not small things, mantras have power. They are the mind vibration in relationship to the Cosmos. The science of mantra is based on the knowledge that sound is a form of energy having structure, power, and a definite predictable effect on the chakras and the human psyche." ~ Yogi Bhajan 1. Get comfy. In Kundalini Yoga we sit on a sheep skin and this helps us to connect our electromagnetic field to the electromagnetic field of the earth. 2. Bring your awareness to your body, sit with your spine straight and your eyes gently closed focusing on the Third Eye point. This helps to bring your mind into neutral. Take a few deep breaths to center and align yourself with your personal intention for your practice. 3. Follow the breath as it enters the body, feel the breath as it fills your heart space. On your next inhalation follow the breath all the way through the body to the Root Chakra at the base of the spine. As you exhale feel yourself breathing down into the earth, grounding and anchoring your body. On your next inhalation breath that grounding energy all the way up through your body, all the way up into the Crown Chakra and as you exhale feel your breathing up and connecting to your higher-self. On your next inhalation allow the breath to soften back down into your heart. From your heart you now feel deeply grounded but also beautifully connected and expanded. 4. From this space we tune in with the Mantra ''Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo'' ''I bow to the subtle divine wisdom, I bow to the divine teacher within'' We then chant ''Aad Guray Nameh, Jugaad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Dayvay Nameh'' ''This is a mantra of protection and is recited to invoke the protective energy of the universe'' 5.Hold your mala in your right hand, draped between your middle and index fingers. Starting at the guru bead, use your thumb to count each smaller bead, pulling it toward you as you recite your mantra, either silently or out loud. Do this 108 times, traveling around the mala, until you once again reach the guru bead. 6.If you want to continue the meditation, instead of passing over the guru bead, simply reverse direction and begin again. ![]() The Thread represents the bond that we have to the Universe. It holds the beads together, it is the thread of the Universe. The beads come from the Universe and so do we. The thread symbolises that everything is interconnected and is without separateness. The knots placed between the beads ensure that the beads do not touch each other and therefore they don't distract us during meditation with a sound. The knot also symbolise our connection to the divine Universe and helps us to keep our distractions separate from ourselves in the same way that the beads do not touch each other. The Guru bead is the 109th bead. This bead symbolises our Teacher, the Divine or God.
